Complaint!

Leading up to the Koinonia Forum, I spent some time re-reading Sara Ahmed’s Complaint! (2021), and it’s relevance in understanding the mechanisms of ongoing censorship and bureaucratic road blocks that are now almost constant since Tr*mp has taken office. Although not new, the speed at which institutions are capitulating in anticipatory obedience is frightening (see the AAUP’s recent statement on “Against Anticipatory Obedience”). Having an event like this that focuses on such a controversial topic like Palestine, I was again reminded of the epistemic importance of such a space. Calling out the existence of an injustice like genocide functions like a complaint.
